Sometimes web merchants need customers to accept terms and conditions before checkout.
Luckily, this feature is built into AspDotNetStorefront and it’s easy to enable and get set up.
To add this feature to your website, login to the admin side of your site and navigate to the AppConfigs screen:
Configuration > Advanced > AppConfig Parameters in version 8.0.
Miscellaneous > AppConfig Parameters prior to version 8.0.

Terms And Conditions
Search for “terms” in the config search box on the left hand side of the screen.
You should see a single result called “RequireTermsAndConditionsAtCheckout”. Set the value of this AppConfig to “true”and update the AppConfig.
Reset the cache just for fun.
Now checkoutpayment.aspx should have a required checkbox like the one pictured above.
If you’d like to edit the terms and conditions text, or add a link to a more detailed terms and conditions page you can edit the topic named “checkouttermsandconditions” found under Content > Manage Topics.

Scott, great little topic! We are considering implementing “Terms and Conditions” to our site. One thing we are wondering is how people react to having to agree to any terms before checking out. Does checking that little box deter purchases? I suppose the actual terms and conditions probably play a larger role in that, but any information you have could be helpful. – Thanks!

Justin – generally having that terms and conditions checkbox doesn’t deter visitors unless they are already unsure of the purchase. Reassure your visitors throughout the process of your security (security badges, etc) and integrity (testimonials, clear policies, etc), to help them feel secure about checking that box. That said, make sure that your terms and conditions are easily available for someone who’s interested in reading them and be sure that they are easy to understand and read.
