Don’t feel bad if you didn’t.

Most people running AspDotNetStorefront never know it’s there because there are no links to it in the default skin. Try typing “searchadv.aspx” into your site’s URL: www.YOURSITE.com/searchadv.aspx

I know it’s not the prettiest page you’ve ever seen, but it’s got some functionality that your customers will appreciate.

They can search by category, manufacturer, price range, and a few other nice options.

You may want to use this page instead of the regular search page, or give your customers the option to use advanced search by adding an “advanced search” link to your regular search page.

Another nice thing about the advanced search page it that is structured and populated from an XML package so those of you like to dabble in development may be able to re-skin this page and its search results to your liking.

You’ll notice that when using the advanced search page that the URL contains all kinds of query string parameters. (for example: searchadv.aspx?IsSubmit=true&SearchTerm=shirt…).

What this means is that you can hardcode links to the search results of this page. For example, you could add a link to “Mens Shirts below $25.00″ to your left navigation.
